Spike Alert: SmartPros Jumps 10% With No News!

Shares of SmartPros (PED) gained more than 10% on Tuesday as volume surges almost 6x the 3-month daily average.

There were no news releases or other significant events that could be detected. The bulk of the volume surge happened near the end of trading.

SmartPros provides learning solutions for accounting/finance, legal, and engineering professionals in the United States. It provides products in various formats, such as print, videotape, and digital format, which include CD-ROM, DVD, or the Internet.

The company has a very tiny market cap of only $30 million, with about $8 million in cash and only about $20,000 in debt according to Yahoo!Finance. Both revenues and net income have been increasing steadily over the last couple of years.

Shares of SmartPros closed at $6.11 on Tuesday, after making a new day high of $6.12 during the very same late day surge.
