After Hours Volume Spike: Rex Energy

Shares of Rex Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: REXX) saw a flood of trading volume for this stock in after-hours. Shares were up 4.8% at $28.35 on last look late in after-hours trading on more than an extra 60,000 shares since the close. This traded over 615,000 shares today and it normally trades about 340,000 shares on a normal day.

The reason it spiked is pretty easy… Jim Cramer came on CNBC’s “MAD MONEY” tonight as one of his oil and gas plays and claimed that just one of this wildcatter’s new projects could be worth $40.00 per share in Q3. One thing he noted though and something you should watch out for is the likelihood of a secondary offering. While it is close to its $28.44 high, it is also up some 200+% off of its 52-week lows.
