JA Solar Holdings, Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ: JASO) is down sharply this morning and this may spill over into other solar stocks even if it is isolated news.  The company posted a loss for the quarter on what it is blaming as exposure to Lehman.  Unfortunately it is also lowering itrs forecasts.

At 8:33 AM EST we have already seen some 575,000 shares trade hands, and shares are down almost 19% at $2.70.  Its prior 52-week trading range was $3.21 to $27.00.  It usually trades about 6.3 million shares and we’d expect that to be hit before noon today.

This is now spilling over into other solar players:

  • Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ) -6% at $6.70
  • First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR) -4.5% at $125.00
  • Solarfun Power (NASDAQ: SOLF) -3.8% at $6.05
