Top After-Hours Movers & Shakers (S, CLWR, NILE, ANDE, WTW)
Posted in after-hoursThese are five big movers in after-hours trading right before 6:00 PM EST:
Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) is up over 6% at $4.42 after closing up more than 3% today, and Clearwire (NASDAQ: CLWR) is up 15% after-hours at $11.25 after closing up 5% at $9.85. The companies have received FCC approval for the wireless broadband merger venture.
Blue Nile (NASDAQ: NILE) shares were somewhat flat after earnings, but the total lack of visibility and refusal to give guidance at this time hurt. Shares fell 8% late in after-hour strading to $25.90.
Andersons Inc. (NASDAQ: ANDE) fell 9% in regular trading but rose after posting that its earnings rose 22%. Shares are up over 5% in late after-hours trading.
Weight Watchers International (NYSE: WTW) said revenue climbed 5% but the company narrowed its 2008 earnings-per-share guidance to $2.75 to $2.78 a share from a prior forecast of $2.75 to $2.86 EPS. After a 5% drop to $30.12 in regular trading, shares are trading back up at $32.00 to take back all of the losses of the day and then some. In this climate, a narrowed range is acceptable in many cases.
