VOLUME ALERT: Coinstar (CSTR)

Coinstar Inc. (Nasdaq: CSTR) shares are up 6 percent to $30.19, trading more than their average daly volume by 11:30 a.m. Eastern. The provider of Redbox rental kiosks signed a movie supply agreement with Sony Pictures that is expected to save the company over what it was paying to buy movies via wholesalers. The agreement also may be seen as the movie industry’s embrace of rental kiosks. — Mike Tarsala
