VOLUME ALERT: Data Domain (DDUP, NTAP, EMC)

Data Domain Inc. (DDUP) shares are up 2.5% to $34 on 1.5 times average trading volume early Monday after EMC Corp (NYSE: EMC) raised its bid for Data Domain to $33.50 a share in cash, or $3.50 a share more than it was willing to pay previously.

EMC adds that it has received regulatory approval from the Federal Trade Commission for the transaction. NetApp (Nasdaq: NTAP) also says it has received federal clearance to buy Data Domain for $30 a share in cash. — Mike Tarsala.
