Five Most Unusual Volume Leaders (EK, HAIN, HGSI, SIRI, VG)

We are seeing many unusual winners and losers today on exponential trading volume gains.  Five of the more unusual movers on strong volume as of 3:20 PM EST today are as follows:

Eastman Kodak Co. (NYSE: EK),
The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAIN),
Human Genome Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: HGSI),
SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI),
and Vonage Holdings Corporation (NYSE: VG).

Details are provided below:

Eastman Kodak Co. (NYSE: EK) is up huge again what seems like another mystery move.  This 23% gain to $5.59 on 24 million shares is almost a 5-X volume day.  The 52-week range here is $2.01 to $16.90.  This morning’s news is only a part of the move… Kodak’s booth at Print 09 will be streaming with exhibits, presentations and activities unlike any previously seen at a trade show in the graphic communications market…. The SEPT$% CALLS traded over 5700 contracts, more than twice its whole open interest in that strike price.

The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAIN) has fallen by about 7.5% to $16.65 on the heels of a disappointing earnings release.  The volume is over 1 million shares, making this a 4-X volume day…. The 52-week range is $11.18 to $31.26.

Human Genome Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: HGSI) is up again on the same old takeover chatter.  Some believe it and some have tried to refute it.  But after a 6.8% gain to $20.51 this 36.8 million shares is a 3-X volume day already.  The high of $22.78 today was a new 52-week high and yesterday’s closing price of $19.21 was the highest close in several years.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) was one we already noted as a total petering-out stock.  We now have the news of the iDock or SkyDock, and they are selling the news…. We have seen 97 million shares trade hands and this one is down over 6% more today at $0.65.

Vonage Holdings Corporation (NYSE: VG) is above and beyond crazy volume movers today.  At $2.10, it is under the $2.63 highs today… but it is still up significantly as the stock was trading under $0.50 just on Monday.  38 million shares yesterday looked impressive… but that is nothing compared to 70+ million shares before the market has even closed.
