Geron Getting Clipped (GERN, ASTM, CYTX, NBS, STEM, KOOL, OSIR, LIFE)

Geron Corporation (Nasdaq:GERN) is getting clipped and clipped hard.  The stem cell leader is trading down right at 15% to $6.17 as of 8:18 AM EST and we have already seen about 120,000 shares traded this early.  The company announced that its IND application for a stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury has been placed on clinical hold by the FDA pending the agency’s review of new nonclinical animal study data submitted by the company. This is an order that the FDA issues to a sponsor to delay a proposed trial or to suspend an ongoing trial.  With average volume of 2.4 million shares, this will be one of the more active issues in the sector.
