Volume Spike Investor

Priceline.com inc. (NASDAQ: PCLN) is rising pre-market after the online travel site reported earnings.  Net income was $67 million, or $1.38 EPS, but pro forma income was $2.02 EPS. Revenue was up close to 20% at $603.7 million.  First Call estimates were $1.75 EPS and $575 million in revenues.  The company also noted that leisure travel demand for summer peak season is stronger than expected.  As of 8:33 AM EST we have seen 50,000 shares trade hands and the stock is up over 6.4% at $139.80.  This marks a 52-week high (above $135.10), so we’d expect that 1 million share average daily volume to be hit early this morning. -JON OGG
