Cell Therapeutics Ramps on New NHL Data (CTIC)

(NASDAQ: CTIC) is trading up again, this morning on news that it released updated 18-month follow-up clinical data for its phase III EXTEND trial of pixantrone pixantrone (BBR2778) for patients with advanced, relapsed or refractory, aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). This is different than its news from the E.U. filing yesterday. CTIC said that responses were evaluated by an Independent Assessment Panel that commented on the durability of responses in the pixantrone treatment which seemed to improve during the study follow up period. It was also encouraged by the increase in the overall survival estimates, especially among those patients whose histologic diagnosis was verified by independent pathologists where 40% of pixantrone recipients were alive, compared to 27% for standard chemotherapy at the 1 year landmark period. At 8:29 AM EST we have already crossed teh 1 million shares mark and shares are up 5% at $1.46. The 52-week high here is $2.23. -JON OGG
