Coffee Jolts (GMCR, DDRX)

We are seeing a surge in two of the coffee stocks today.  Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) said that it was introducing its Donut House™ Collection, a full line of regular, decaf and flavored coffees in K-Cup® portion packs for use with Keurig® Single-Cup Brewing Systems.  All price moves are as of 11:13 AM EST:

  • Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR) up 3.7% at $76.06 on right at 1 million shares (vs. 1.4 million on average)
  • Diedrich Coffee Inc. (NASDAQ: DDRX) up 11.8% at $27.24 on 543K shares (over 4-X volume)

The other coffee players have not moved as much or are not active enough to signal any sort of volume spike alerts…. SBUX, JVA, CBOU
