3Com Corporation (NASDAQ: COMS) is setting multi-year record trading volume for this particular stock even from its prior merger. You know the news, but the stock at 8:45 AM EST has already traded 46.3 million shares versus ‘only’ 16 million in the after-hours session alone just last night.  Back on FEB 20 2008 it had a total volume of 51,716,600 shares; but back on SEPT 28 2007 it traded a whopping 116,902,100 shares.  Shares are up 32% at $7.55 and we’d expect that this will set a multi-year record in trading volume today since we are already close to 50 million shares with 45 minutes until the open.
