Regeneron Sees Sanofi-Aventis Expansion (REGN)

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN) is trading up this morning but on volume that is lighter than expected.  Sanofi-Aventis has expanded its antibody research efforts with Regeneron.  The deal is said to be close to $1 billion all-in:  Sanofi-Aventis will increase its annual funding commitment from $100M to $160 million beginning in 2010, and the research funding will now extend through 2017.  Regeneron shares at 8:230 have only traded about 2,200 shares but the stock is up 11% at $17.58.  The market cap here is only $1.27 billion.
