Adobe Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBE) beat earnings expectations and said that its business is improving. Shares are up over 5% at $37.10 despite a red market this morning. At 9:04 AM EST we have seen 295,000 shares trade hands and the 52-week range is $20.39 to $38.20.

Genzyme Corporation (NASDAQ: GENZ) is down after reports that the FDA took an enforcement action on its Allston plant which has been a trouble for the company. At 9:05 AM EST we have seen shares drop over 4.5% to $56.39 on almost 500K shares.

Jabil Circuit Inc. (NYSE: JBL) showed that its earnings beat expectation but on light revenues. The company reported Q2 results of $0.29 EPS on $3 billion in revenue. Thomson Reuters had estimates at $0.28 and $3.01 billion. At 9:05 AM EST shares are down 7.35% at $17.01 on almost 60,000 shares. The 52-week range here is $3.73 to $18.49.

Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN) announced this morning that its Q1 loss narrowed as margins and orders rose. The home builder has also said that it is on track to become profitable this year. Shares are up 5.8% at $18.05 and hitting a new 52-week high above $17.88. At 9:05 AM EST we have seen only 83,000 shares trade hands.

Linn Energy, LLC (NASDAQ: LINE) is lower after it priced its 15 million unit secondary at $25.00, which is where it closed yesterday. Shares are down 0.7% at $24.83 on 950,000 shares at 9:08 AM EST.

Massey Energy Co. (NYSE: MEE) priced its planned 8.5 million shares secondary offering. The Secondary priced at $49.75 versus a $50.88 close yesterday. At 9:07 AM EST we have seen 375K shares trade and the stock is down 1% at $50.35.

Novavax, Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX) is up on positive swine flu data this morning. At 9:08 AM EST we have shares up over 7% at $2.51 on 150K shares.

Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) as expected is declaring its first ever dividend of $0.10 per quarter and said it would allocated 35% to 40% of net income for future dividend policies. The company also authorized 15 million shares for buyback. At 9:09 AM EST we have seen 135K shares trade and the stock is up 2.13% at $25.95. The prior 52-week range WAS $10.74 to $25.66.

Novavax Porks Swine Flu (NVAX)

The company issued a press release showing positive clinical results from a pivotal study of H1N1 influenza vaccine in Mexico. (Nasdaq: NVAX) is trading down this morning on reports from the company that it plans to offer common stock in a public secondary offering through Piper Jaffray and Lazard Capital Markets. Terms were not yet stated, but the shares at 8:10 AM EST are down 10% at $3.38 on about 30,000 shares. Average volume is now over 6 million shares and the 52-week trading range is $0.52 to $7.79. Volume should really pick up here shortly.

Novavax-GE/Avimex Pact Interest (NVAX)

Novavax, Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX) is trading higher after it announced that it began a two-stage clinical study of its virus-like particle H1N1 influenza vaccine in Mexico. This is in collaboration with Avimex Laboratories and GE Healthcare. Shares were indicated up around 9% in early trading, but at 8:20 AM EST we have seen some 400,000 shares trade hands and the last print was up almost 7% at $4.01. Average volume is now 8 million shares and this one feels like it is petering out at least a bit in the volume. The 52-week trading range is $0.52 to $7.79 and the market cap before today’s jump was $340.5 million. -JON OGG

Novavax.. No Blue Horseshoe, No Love (NVAX)

Novavax Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX) is getting spanked this morning. The swine flu stock and flu stock is trading lower after Oppenheimer & Co. downgraded the biotechnology company after shares went above and beyond the firm;s $6.00 price target. The rating is now “Perform” rather than “Outperform” as before. At the 9:30 Opening Bell NVAX is down over 7% at $6.13 and we are now seeing 1 million shares already traded including the first minute and including pre-market trading. Average volume is now over 7 million shares, but this is the first such downgrade we have seen in this and other swine flu stocks.

Novavax Loves the Flu, 52-Week Highs (NVAX)

Novavax, Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX) is soaring on positive flu data. As of 8:34 AM EST we have seen almost 2 million shares trade hands versus average volume of 7 million shares. The price is surging as well by 14% to $6.91. Chalk this up as a 52-week high as the old high was $6.30 before this morning. Novavax’s Phase II human clinical trial of its trivalent seasonal influenza virus-like particle vaccine candidate showed positive results as the vaccine was well tolerated and induced robust immune responses against all three influenza strains in the vaccine. The company believes that the data supports the planned study in elderly adults scheduled for the fourth quarter this year and pave the way for Novavax to advance its seasonal influenza VLP vaccine into Phase III studies next year. -JON OGG

More Activity in Swine Flu Stocks (NVAX, BCRX)

There was similar news affecting HGSI, but the other swine flu or H1N1 flu stocks are getting attention as well after the Obama administration has signaled that it will help companies where it can to deliver faster and higher doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine. The goal is to get a September increase rather than out until November and later. Novavax Inc. (NASDAQ: NVAX) is up only 2% at $5.32, but it has seen some 365,000 shares already trade hands. BioCryst Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: BCRX) is also up 2.3% at $12.90 and we have now seen over 100,000 shares trade hands. Time stamp on this is 8:56 AM EST. -JON OGG

The vaccine won’t be approved nor ready for commercial use in humans for two years.
